The Future Skills Centre (FSC) is a new £4m ‘state of the art’ construction training centre in the heart of the Whitehill & Bordon regeneration project. The FSC is part of the Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) Group, a leading and well respected further education provider.  The college prides itself on its excellent links with business and the success of its learners in securing positive destinations.

The college was rated ‘good with outstanding features’ in May 2016 by Ofsted and is committed to becoming an ‘outstanding’ provider. Our financial health has consistently been rated ‘outstanding’ over the last 10 years by the Skills Funding Agency.  BCoT is a significant provider of apprenticeships, the achievement rates of our apprentices are significantly above the sector average and we have set ambitious growth targets up to 2020.

The FSC, Hampshire County Council and the Construction Trade & Industry Board (CiTB) have allocated substantial resources to meet the immediate short-term skills gaps in construction, within the North Hampshire area. We are seeking an experienced construction lecturer, with teaching experience, to deliver a number of short 2-3 week training courses over a 12-14 months period, starting immediately. The courses will involve the delivery of a Level 1 Health & Safety course and units from a Level 1 ‘Multi-craft’ qualification (to be discussed). Individuals enrolled on the course with also assisted in gaining the required knowledge to pass the recognised Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Lecturers will be supported with the delivery of additional employability skills.

The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate current and up-to-date industry experience, along with excellent organisational and communication skills.

This initiative is looking to provide individuals with immediate and basic construction skills, hence the short periods of course delivery. However, due to recognised long term skills shortage within the construction sector, employers are looking for possible progression routes for those individuals that excel. This in turn may lead to further expansion at the FSC, potentially leading to full time employment opportunities at the FSC.

BCoT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its learners, and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake appropriate checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure (payable by candidate) as well as providing proof of the right to work in the UK.

BCoT is an equal opportunities employer.  We welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.

Applications will be considered as they are received. Interviews for suitable candidates will be arranged before the scheduled closing date so please do not delay in applying.
